It’s official, I have been chosen as an official Utah Jazz blogger. They told me there were about 900 applicants, and I was one of the 12 chosen for this season.

I’m going to crosspost here every time I put up a post over there. Please head over there and comment on my posts and everyone else’s! I want to help grow the Jazzbots community and make it the place to be for Jazz fans to hang out online.
the other day on cnn one of the talking heads said that the ceos on wall street need to “pony up.”
anyone familiar with my family would know that means that they need to “shut up and downgrade” back to windows xp.
who knew that vista was the cause of our financial meltdown?
Every day I ride my scooter to school and every day I dutifully put my helmet on for the ride. You see, I made Sarah a promise that I would wear it every time.
I definitely see the appeal to riding without a helmet: convenience, you get to feel the wind through your hair, and most importantly, you don’t look like a huge dork.
All great reasons for risking your life. I think about 10% of people I see riding motorcycles and scooters wear helmets and I just don’t get it. Even some of my best friends refuse to put on a helmet. Do they realize how easy it is to wreck on a bike? One oil spill or careless driver and you’re toast. Riding two-wheeler truly is like taking your life in your own hands. All it takes is a little bump on the head and you’re either dead or a money-sucking vegetable that has to be taken care of by your family for the rest of your life.
But I’m against mandatory helmet laws. I just think there should be a law that if you get killed in a motorcycle crash where you would have been protected by wearing a helmet, then your tombstone should read: “DIDN’T WANT TO LOOK LAME.”
i just want to say how impressed i was with tiger’s last putt today. i usually root for tiger because i enjoy watching history happen, but today i thought he wouldn’t make that putt, and i didn’t mind because mediate seems like a genuinely nice guy. but when he knocked that down it was just electric. watching golf was fun this weekend.
i busted out the sewing machine and made a new laptop sleeve for my macbook. it’s made out of brown wool felt and has a velcro enclosure.

i was thinking today about how cool it would be to instantly transport yourself anywhere in the world…aka teleportation. it’s a fantasy we all have thought about at one point or another in our lives.
when i was young i thought the best way to do it would be if i could jump from the top of one telephone pole to another, in a sprint. i could run for 10 minutes and be hundreds of miles away, which would be a pretty sweet way of getting around.
well, as i pondered this today i realized that it would actually suck. hardcore.
you see, if anyone could go anywhere in the world with minimal effort, everywhere would be crowded. any place worth visiting would be jam-packed full of slack-jawed gawkers and would lose some of it’s charm. everyone would be a tourist all at the same time.
not that i’m trying to sit on a high horse and talk about how i want to protect all the cool places in the world for my own personal amusement…rather i’m saying that part of the gratification that comes from seeing something cool comes from the effort expended in making the journey. one year ago at this time we had just finished the trans-siberian railway and were on the beginning of a month-long stay in europe. it was a great time, but when i think back on it i think of the good times i had getting from one place to another rather than just the sites that we visited.
so join with me! down with teleportation!
(although i’m fine with first-class seats for everyone!)
me and my music nerd buddies.
sarah gets tomorrow off as a paid holiday from work because it’s columbus day. must be a sweet gig working for the government.
alas, after a full month of learning how europeans screwed over the native americans, my white guilt is coming through and rendering me unable to celebrate. perhaps we should rename the day to Bartolomé de las Casas day so that i can feel assuaged and get down with my bad self tomorrow night.
we haven’t been to many concerts since we got back to the states. it ended up being one of my big regrets from japan, not going to any concerts. the only shows we have seen since returning were yo la tengo (free show), and nolens volens.
tomorrow after priesthood session of conference, cade, ashley, sarah, and i are going to see deerhoof in slc. i’m really amped about this. i’ve always wanted to see them live, and i listened to them a lot while i was in japan. i’m even more excited for another concert we have coming up this month, which is the shout out louds. they are playing with interpol and the liars, which means that the concert will be a indie-buffalo-fest, but i’m still way excited. the last few days i have been listening to their new cd a lot and it has made me feel very alive and even a teeny bit emotional on some songs. very evoking stuff.
so this got me thinking, what were my favorite concerts i ever saw? here is my list, in descending order, of my 5 favorite concerts.
in addition to listing my 5 favorites, i thought i would list the 5 bands/artists i would most want to see (that i never have). again, in descending order.
so my questions for you 2 people that read this are: what have been your favorite concerts you have ever seen? and, what concerts do you really want to see?
