Justin, Sarah, & Elliott Bytheway

we went down to glenwood for halloween to help pass out candy and eat homemade donuts. we splurged on a costume for elliott that he promptly pooped on as soon as we put him in. what can i say, he is still young in the force. he started off the night pretty happy and was enjoying his costume, but as more kids came by and it got more noisy and more people wanted to hold him he turned to the dark side.

i’m currently sleep training the kid so if i have a shorter fuse than normal, forgive me. it’s been a rough couple of days, although last night was heavenly. he was in bed, asleep 2 hours earlier for normal, only woke up once in the night, and slept until 8. it’s been hard work, but even after only a couple of days it’s paying off.

i had “the baby sleep solution” recommended to me. it’s a really small book and a really straight-forward method, at least in my opinion. the first step is cutting the feedings down to 4 a day. he was eating 7 times a day so that was kind of a process. i was worried about cutting back his feedings, but so far it seems like he’s much much happier after he eats and he seems to actually be getting more based on his diapers.

i mean it’s only been a few days, but so far i’m pleased with the results. i’m hoping that i won’t have to result at all to crying-it-out. and she says her method works for kids aged up to 18 months.

that’s awesome, sarah. cheers to you for not doing the cry out method. it’s so hard, but some kids certainly leave you no choice. i’ll have to check out that book for the next kid, and hopefully we won’t have another as sleep-deprived as izzy.

i love his costume too. i’m going to have to put izzy in her costume and take a picture. we lost our camera just in time for halloween, so we have no document of it except on the video camera and i look extremely pissed. so…we won’t be using that for memories.
