it’s almost impossible to take pictures of elliott these days that aren’t blurry. he hates staying still.
the latest stats: 12 lbs, almost 25 inches long. his weight is average, but his length is almost off the charts. this is going to be one tall kid! the sad news is that our doctor said that he has torticollis - which means that one of his neck muscles was tweaked in the womb and now he turns his head to one side and not the other. you can see it in this picture. it breaks my heart a little and we’re doing stretching exercises with him and hopefully we’ll be able to fix it.

in the past two months my parenting pet peeve has become when people ask me “so is he a good baby?” uh, duh, is there such a thing as a bad baby? just because my baby cries alot and has to be held most of the time, does that make him a bad baby? i had a mom at church ask me “why does your baby cry so much?” i tried to be polite but what i wanted to say was: “um, because he’s a baby. what’s your daughter’s excuse for having a face like a shar-pei?”
so what is elliott like? he’s stubborn and has definite preferences and has no problem expressing those preferences to us, usually by screaming his head off. he loves people, loves being around big groups and being passed from person to person. as long as he is in someone’s arms he’s usually content. he smiles all the time, mostly at me and justin. he has so much energy and hates going to sleep during the day and he especially hates going to sleep when he can hear us laughing and talking and having fun without him. that being said, even though he’s not a big day napper, he sleeps great at night. he has slept through the night on many occasions and we’re hoping that it starts becoming a regular pattern. the best thing about elliott is how much he loves to be on the go - he loves the car and he loves going on walks. he’s a great little traveler and we’re excited to see how he does on an extended road trip and on a plane, hopefully in the next couple of months.
what can i say? we love the little duffer. being a parent is great.
