well, our little elliott (two L’s, two T’s, for the record) has been in our lives for a little over one week now.

(the second picture is as we headed out of the hospital in his cute little outfit won from the tangled and true virtual baby shower)

things he’s experienced this week:

-figuring out how to eat, and hopefully my body has finally figured out how to make enough food for this ravenous little boy.

-sleeping through church

-dealing with a mommy who is making it up as she goes along (hopefully with ok results eventually)

-peeing all over his face in the middle of a diaper change. geesh. the amazing thing was that he didn’t even cry or seem upset. what a trooper.

-sleeping in his crib! that was a nice surprise, i wasn’t expecting him to take to it so soon, although we’ve only been brave enough to put him in it during the day. his night sleeping is too important to our sanity to trust to the crib just yet.

he’s a great kid. all the things that i thought would be difficult - sleeping in the crib, playing on his tummy, not sleeping or waking up frequently during the night - have been complete non-issues. he doesn’t even cry in the bath or during diaper changes. the only frustration that i’ve experienced so far has been between the hours of 4 pm and 11 pm when he decides to stay up between 4 and 6 hours straight and refuses to be anywhere but mommy and daddy’s arms. getting our sling in the mail this next week will definitely alleviate that. as we prepare for justin to start his last semester of school in a month i can only hope that elliott remains this chill (not 100% holding my breath).

also we resisted the pacifier until the past couple of days when i realized that if we didn’t give him something else to suck on then i would be his pacifier and that didn’t work for me. introducing the pacifier has made his eatings and sleepings more scheduled, which is nice.

why haven’t you corrected me with the spelling of his name? geez! i’ve been spelling it wrong all this time. i’m such a jerk!

sounds like he is such a good boy. that’s great. i have hope for a less fussy one in the future, but her cuteness makes up for it.

good job on the babymaking! he’s darling.

You are one lucky mama, Elliott sounds like a dream! I’m glad it’s all going well and he is beautiful–really.

i’m trying not to be one of those moms who always thinks her kid is adorable. sometimes i look at him and he just looks like a cranky old man. or a frog. but i think he’s a fairly cute baby as well, as far as newborns go. he’s even cute when he’s headbutting me in the chest because i can’t get ready to feed him fast enough.

we can’t figure out yet who he looks like. i think he got justin’s mouth, and he got justin’s mom’s chin, but the rest of his face is a mystery.

Do you have something to say?
